FAQs
The referral process
We do not require a formal referral from a physician. We accept both self-referrals and referrals from other practitioners. Feel free to contact us on behalf of yourself, a loved one, or a client. After we have received your referral, we will contact you to schedule a free 20-minute consultation to get an understanding of the difficulties that you or your child are experiencing, and discuss how we may be able to support you through assessment or treatment. The purpose of this brief consultation is to ensure that you are matched with a therapist who is best able to meet your needs.
Referrals can be made by emailing us at admin@northtorontopsychology.com, calling us at 416-440-1006, or by clicking here.
Fees
Psychological services are covered by most extended health insurance plans or workplace benefits, but are not covered by OHIP at the present time. Please consult your individual healthcare insurance plan to determine the extent of coverage provided. Fees paid out-of-pocket are tax-deductable and qualify under the category of medical expenses.
Privacy and confidentiality
At North Toronto Psychology, your privacy and confidentiality is of utmost importance. Our clinicians are regulated health professionals who are required to abide by Ontario’s health privacy legislation, the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA). There are some limits to confidentiality which will be discussed in your initial appointment. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Session length
Therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes in duration. Longer or shorter sessions can be arranged with your therapist and are pro-rated.
Cancellation policy
If you need to change or cancel your appointment, please provide at least 24 hours notice. If less than 24 hours is provided, you may be charged the full hourly rate for the missed session.
